Night Picnic is a bilingual journal of literature and art which publishes work in both Russian and English. We accept novels, novellas, plays, short and flash stories, fairytales for adults, poetry, interviews, essays (including popular science essays), letters to the editors, and artwork.

We prefer, but not exclusively, fantasies with multidimensional metaphysical meanings. Our slogan:

“Find Truth in Fiction!”

We encourage authors to submit all that is strange, dark, jubilant, complex, confusing, scary, mystical, and multidimensional. We do NOT publish memoirs, heavy science fiction, political essays, and pornography. We do NOT publish manuscripts with chauvinistic and fascistic tendencies.

The size of the manuscript does not matter; we do not limit by word count. Large novels will be published in separate issues of the magazine. We do not consider unfinished work.

All submissions must be either in English or Russian and previously unpublished. Translations are permissible but should be accompanied by a copy of the original text. Simultaneous submissions are fine just notify us immediately if the manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere. Reprints by invitation only.

We welcome submissions from writers of every race, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation or proclivity.

We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
